Tenure arrives with weight — literal and otherwise. At 40 cm and built with a heft that you feel before you fully account for it, this is not a piece that settles lightly into a space. It settles decisively.
The shape is familiar, something you feel you have encountered before, but Tenure is more outspoken than its kin — willing to hold a position, to take up its corner of a room and mean it. It shares the commanding presence of Between Breaths, that same atmospheric force, but where Between Breaths is all stillness, Tenure is deliberate. It knows what it weighs. It handles itself accordingly.
There is a carefulness to it that is inseparable from its strength. Not restraint exactly — more like the quiet responsibility that comes with knowing your own power, and choosing, every time, to use it gently.
Tenure arriveert met gewicht — letterlijk en figuurlijk. Op 40 cm en gebouwd met een heft dat je voelt voordat je het volledig kunt verklaren, is dit geen werk dat zich luchtig in een ruimte nestelt. Het nestelt zich beslissend.
De vorm is vertrouwd, iets wat je het gevoel geeft al eerder te hebben ontmoet, maar Tenure is uitgesproken dan zijn verwanten — bereid een positie in te nemen, zijn hoek van een kamer op te eisen en dat te menen. Het deelt de indrukwekkende aanwezigheid van Between Breaths, diezelfde atmosferische kracht, maar waar Between Breaths pure stilte is, is Tenure doelbewust. Het weet wat het weegt. Het gedraagt zich dienovereenkomstig.
