Opdrachten
Een opdracht begint lang voordat er ook maar iets van materiaal wordt aangeraakt. Het begint met een gesprek.
François benadert elke opdracht zoals hij het werk zelf benadert — met geduld, oprechte nieuwsgierigheid, en zonder haast. Het gesprek met een opdrachtgever is geen transactie, geen briefing, geen formaliteit die afgehandeld moet worden voor het echte werk begint. Het ís het echte werk, of toch minstens het eerste en belangrijkste deel ervan. Wat je mooi vindt, wat je omringt, hoe een ruimte aanvoelt, waar je oog telkens naar toe gaat zonder precies te weten waarom — dat zijn geen randdetails. Dat is het materiaal.
Dit past volledig binnen de geest van de Interlocutor-serie. Dit zijn sculpturen gebouwd rond het idee van uitwisseling — tussen object en toeschouwer, tussen aanwezigheid en ruimte, tussen wat gezegd wordt en wat gewoon gevoeld wordt. Een opdracht verlengt die uitwisseling naar haar oorsprong. Het gesprek tussen François en een opdrachtgever wordt, in de meest letterlijke zin, het gesprek dat het afgewerkte werk ooit met zijn thuis zal voeren.
Het proces is collaboratief zonder dwingend te zijn. François luistert aandachtig, stelt doordacht voor, en laat ruimte voor het werk om onderweg zijn eigen vorm te vinden. Een opdracht binnen de Interlocutor-serie is geen reproductie of variatie — het is een eigen werk, gevormd door zijn eigen bijzondere oorsprong, die geschiedenis stil met zich meedragend.
Als je een ruimte hebt die op iets lijkt te wachten, of een gevoel van wat je zoekt zonder daar al woorden voor te hebben — dat is al meer dan genoeg om te beginnen.

Commissions
A commissioned piece begins long before any material is touched. It begins with a conversation.
François approaches every commission the way he approaches the work itself — with patience, genuine curiosity, and no particular hurry. The dialog with a patron is not a transaction, not a briefing, not a box to tick before the real work starts. It is the real work, or at least the first and most important part of it. What you love, what you live with, what a space feels like, what you find yourself drawn to without quite knowing why — these are not peripheral details. They are the material.
This is entirely in keeping with the spirit of the Interlocutor series. These are sculptures built around the idea of exchange — between object and onlooker, between presence and space, between what is said and what is simply felt. A commission extends that exchange back to its source. The conversation between François and a patron becomes, in a very real sense, the conversation the finished piece will one day have with its home.
The process is collaborative without being prescriptive. François listens carefully, proposes thoughtfully, and leaves room for the work to find its own form along the way. A commissioned Interlocutor is not a reproduction or a variation — it is its own thing, shaped by its own particular origin, carrying that history quietly inside it.
