At 65 cm and 50 kg, Common Ground is unlike anything else in the series. And yet it is unmistakably one of them.
The paradox is the point. This is At Ease’s shape — that same deceptive balance, those two stacked parts in quiet negotiation — but arrived at through mass rather than lightness. Where At Ease floats, Common Ground is planted. Deeply, permanently, without apology. And yet it does not intrude. It does not loom or demand or overwhelm. That is not the way of the Interlocutors, and Common Ground, as their padre, understands this better than any of them.
Because that is what he is — the patriarch, the one who set the tone. The calm in the room that everyone unconsciously orients toward. The exchange he offers is the same as the rest: unhurried, considered, generous. Just delivered from somewhere deeper, somewhere that has been here a long time and intends to remain.
